The corrosion-resistant method of iron and steel parts through hot galvanizing process was adopted over a long period of time. In 1742 French scientist found that zinc can protect iron and steel against corrosion effectively to extend their using life. In 1837 hot galvanizing method is patented in France and up to now it has a history of more than 100 years. With the rapid development of industry and agriculture andespecially that of power supply and communication trade, the higher demands for the corrosion-resistant ability and use life of the steel structural parts have been putforward. How to satisfy the abovementioned demands? For this reason, the improvement of the modern hot dip galvanizing technology and process is necessary. The main problems in the hot dip galvaniz- ing technology are as follows: rough surface, salamander, flow mark, black spot and dot, plating-missing,spall of coating layer and white rust. There are many causes, which induce the abovementioned defects, such as pretrea- tment, composition of molten zinc, steel material quality, etc. In the present years, with the popularization of continuous casting technology in the iron and steel enterprises, the proportion of the silicon-killed steel to total steel products is growing. Because the silicon element in steel product can speed up the reaction between zinc and iron, as a result coating color is changed and color difference is serious. The difficult problem in the technology is a real headache forquite a few hot galvanizing plant and is also an important and key research project.
